Designed for high-current 12V systems
A 4000W inverter is a serious DC load. At full output it can draw more than 350A from a 12V battery system after conversion losses. Before purchase, confirm that the battery bank, battery-management system, cable size, fuse, isolator and connections are rated for the required current and start-up surge. Keep DC cable runs short and follow the supplied installation instructions.
Continuous and surge ratings are different: 4000W is the stated continuous capacity, while 8000W is the short-duration surge rating. Check every intended appliance’s running wattage and start-up demand rather than relying on its category alone.
Caravan and off-grid installation considerations
- Mount in a dry, ventilated location with the specified clearances.
- Use appropriately sized DC cable and over-current protection close to the battery.
- Check the battery’s continuous discharge rating and any BMS current limit.
- Allow for voltage drop, especially at high load.
- Use a suitably qualified installer for high-current or permanently wired systems.

Frequently asked questions
Is 8000W the continuous output?
No. The stated continuous output is 4000W; 8000W is the short-duration surge rating.
Will it run my appliance?
Compare the appliance’s running wattage and start-up surge with the inverter ratings. Also confirm that the 12V battery system can supply the resulting DC current. Appliance compatibility is not determined by wattage alone.
